I woke one morning recently with a piercing pain in my jaw. After a visit to my endodontist, I needed a root canal procedure; on a previous root canal procedure. One root had been missing, and was infected. The smell of rot getting worse and a rearing pain shot through my jay as I bit down that morning. Silver was used, an outdated practice my dentist would tell me. I thought back to the day 8 years prior when I had the procedure done while I was in college. I shook in the chair, terrified of dentistry and of how long the procedure took. Four hours I sat in that chair. I wonder why it took that long to find the fourth root to fill with silver? Guess he never did.
